General Coatings Corporation was awarded the contract to paint the exterior of Pratt & Whitney¹s leased building at 4075 Ruffin Road, in San Diego by Melanie Colbert of Layton-Belling Associates (LBA).

This was a fast track project as LBA wanted the repainted building¹s picture on its website as soon as possible. Increasing the challenge was a roofing replace-ment project scheduled to begin immediately on a Monday in November. General Coatings was able to help the roofer with its tight scheduling problem by meeting with LBA on Thursday, taking Pratt&Whitney¹s required safety course on Friday and painting the exterior on Saturday and Sunday. Pratt & Whitney had also scheduled to recoat the flooring in the 16,000square foot production area during Christmas week. LBA and the tenant also decided to repaint the exposed ceiling structure to lighten up this dark area during the same time frame.

The reconstruction contractor for the project, Building Collaborative, Inc. of Lake Forest, lost its painting contractor because of delays in scheduling. LBA recommended General Coatings as the replacement painter.

As the tenant was closed for the holidays, the work was scheduled to begin on December 22nd and be ready for the floor coating on the 26th. General Coatings manned this project December 22nd and 23rd, Monday and Tuesday, with 12 painters working 12 hour shifts on four-man lifts so that Pratt & Whitney¹s supervisor, Building Collaborative, Inc.¹s personnel and the painters could be with their families Christmas Eve day and Christmas and return Friday morning the 26th to finish spraying and clean up for the next contractor to begin on time with his flooring.
